ABOUT ME:
I have approximately 20 years of experience, 16 of which occurred at the post-Masters level. I have conducted integrative psychotherapy with individuals, couples and families, as well as psychological testing across the lifespan. I have also provided consultation and outreach to a number of individuals and agencies.
I have experience in varied settings including a youth service bureau, a community hospital, veterans' hospitals, a clinic for children and families of domestic violence, a college counseling center, and a juvenile court. I worked contractually for almost 5 years providing therapy to juvenile sex offenders and their families. In addition, I have 10 years experience in health psychology, using biofeedback and a variety of other interventions for stress related disorders. I have special training in Eriksonian Hypnosis and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and have been a member of leadership and scholarship societies including Psi Chi, Mu Phi Epsilon, and Omicron Delta Kap
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: I am collaborative in my approach to therapy and tailor treatment to each individual's unique situation, integrating a number of theoretical frameworks and techniques. I emphasize both insight and skill building and strike a good balance between empathy and acceptance of patients' difficulties and encouraging them to change. I tend to form rapport quickly, work well in challenging situations, and my patients typically report high satisfaciton with their care.
