ABOUT ME:
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the District of Columbia and Virginia. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Communication from Fairfield University in Connecticut. I later earned a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, DC Campus. Following an APA accredited internship at St. Elizabeths Hospital, I began working in the DC Public School System conducting psychological assessments on children and adolescents. In an effort to improve the quality of mental health services received by district students, a colleague and I started a DC company called Psychological Assessment Solutions, LLC (www.dcpas.com).
I have a wealth of experience working with a variety of populations and clinical issues. I have worked in a military setting, an inpatient hospital, a college counseling center, and in a number of community mental health care clinics. In my Arlington pr
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: In my therapeutic work I focus on forming a collaborative alliance with my clients. Flexibility, openness, and an appreciation of context are guiding principles I use to formulate clinical impressions. I believe the most effective therapy involves clients as active participants in the treatment process. Consequently, I place great value on the clients' perception of their presenting problems, and I acknowledge my clients as experts on their own experiences.
Having been trained in an integrative psychotherapy framework, I feel comfortable allowing the process to be guided what my clients bring to the session. I utilize concepts from a variety of traditional theories, e.g., experiential, cognitive behavioral, attachment, and psychodynamic therapy as well as principles of mindfulness, a technique derived from Buddhist psychology.

HEALTH PLAN PARTICIPATION:
Although I understand that there are many reasons why people often decide to use their insurance, at this time I do not choose to be an in-network provider for any insurance plans.
Should you wish to utilize your insurance benefits, I will be more than happy to provide documentation to facilitate this process. Payment is due at the end of each session and you may pay by cash or personal checks. It will help you to check with your insurance company prior to our first meeting to understand your benefits. You will want to ask your insurance company about: - Coverage for "outpatient psychotherapy services"
- The percentage of reimbursement for an "out of network provider" including any deductible amount.
