ABOUT ME:
Dr. Palamara believes that gradual stress has the capacity to do more harm than abrupt stress because it is undetectable. When the ability to cope with stress becomes too cumbersome the impact can lead to a full blown traumatic experience. The effect of lingering trauma creates a vicious cycle of failed attempts to resolve something unidentifiable and it becomes complicated for the victim to stop the cycle. Compulsive behavior patterns become wedged into the unconscious to fuel the foundation for rock-solid addictive behavior patterns.
Although addictive behavior cycles initially prevent uncomfortable memories from bubbling to the surface of consciousness, the effort to suppress unwanted memories eventually becomes too exhausting and its effectiveness inevitably deteriorates over time. The stronger the conditioning cycle of addictive behaviors, the greater the clouded thinking and likelihood that reasoning will deteriorate as well. These uncontrollable impulses lead to actions without thought. <
