ABOUT ME:
I provide psychotherapy to individuals, adolescents and couples. Symptom reduction is just one part of the therapy I provide. Deeply creating and defining one's life purpose is also part of the therapy. As a contemplative psychotherapist I invite imagination and inspiration into the session and encourage moments of mindful observing and quiet attention to the breath and meditative attention to the complexity of thoughts and feelings, sometimes referred to as the "chatter" of mind. This approach facilitates reduction of symptoms of anxiety and depression and leaves one emotionally accurate and more skillful in engaging with oneself and others.
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: Using mindfulness practices and contemplative and intellectual exploration, I assist clients to loosen their grip on their old life stories and deconstruct the taken-for-granted meaning they automatically impute to their experiences. Issues of great depth and importance often open up in this process and can be dealt with.A great benefit of this therapy is learning to embrace pain and obstacles to cultivate wisdom, and skillfuly navigating through life's twists and turns while welcoming the tough existential questions. Happiness, deeper fulfillment, and sometimes profound shifts in relationship to oneself and others result from this process.

FEES PER SESSION:
$60 to $100

HEALTH PLAN PARTICIPATION:
I accept Aetna CHIPA MHN insurances and some PPO's with verification of coverage.

PAYMENTS:
Currently my fees are $90.00 per fifty-five minute individual session and $120.00 per ninety-minute couple/family session. In some cases I am able to offer a sliding scale fee.
|
CANCELLATIONS:
For session cancellation I require twenty-four hours of notice. If you are cancelling your session sooner than this but you are able to attend a later session during the same week, there is no charge for your late cancellation.

CREDENTIALS:
I am a seasoned psychotherapist licensed as a marriage and family therapist. My training spans a wide array of client concerns including problems of adolescence, relationships at all life stages, mood disorders, the functional impairment associated with serious mental illness, self-harming behaviors, identity confusion and alternate lifestyle preference. In addition to private practice, I have provided many years of service in mental health agency settings, including acute and sub-acute care and school settings. I am a clinical supervisor and I train therapist interns and provide consultation to experienced therapists.
