ABOUT ME:
Primary interests are lifestyle and behavioral management via brief therapies: individual and couple problems, including stress, anxiety, depression, work issues, emotional issues of complex medical problems and behavioral management of children (Smart Discipline trainer). The goal is to give people strategies to feel better as quickly as possible, while gaining the skills and tools to solve problems over the long-term. My counseling subspecialty is rehabilitation (medical) counseling with concentration on chronic pain management and insomnia. Personal includes: married to my original husband (19 yrs in 3/07!), classically-trained musician, living in a bungalow while hubby renovates, watching UK Wildcats basketball (I bleed blue & white!).
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: I am kind and direct in problem identification and problem solving. Dr. Phil and Dr. Laura are well-known examples of behavioral and cognitive-behavioral counseling. If you like Dr. Phil & Dr. Laura, you'll probably like my goal-oriented style.
