ABOUT ME:
Currently, in my private practice, I treat adolescents and adults with a wide range of problems, including low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, shyness and excessive self-consciousness, eating issues and body image concerns, trauma, difficulties developing and maintaining healthy, satisfying relationships, and teenagers demonstrating 'acting-out' or oppositional behaviors.
Please refer to the "credentials" section to learn more about my training and experience.
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: I believe that the right fit between therapist and patient is essential to the success of any therapy. This fit is affected, in part, by a therapist's style and approach to treatment. As a therapist, I am friendly, easy to talk with, and knowledgeable. In order to help my patients feel as safe and comfortable as possible, I work hard to foster a trusting and empathic atmosphere.
In initial sessions, and throughout treatment, I will actively work to obtain a thorough understanding of your current difficulties, needs and concerns. I believe that positive change is achieved by attaining increased insight into the origins of one's problems and by learning new patterns of relating to others.

CREDENTIALS:
I completed my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the Illinois Institute of Technology (2004), through which much of my clinical training was obtained at Rush University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital where I focused on the treatment of adolescents. Throughout, and since, graduate school I have gained additional experience working with both adults and adolescents on various research studies at Northwestern University, The University of Chicago and DePaul University.
Currently, in addition to treating patients through my private practice, I work part-time on a depression research study at the Asher Center for the Study and Treatment of Depressive Disorders at Northwestern University. I am also currently pursuing advanced training as a candidate in the Adult Psychotherapy Training program at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis, as I believe that it is important to continue to enhance my skills and knowledge in order to provide the best treatment possible for my patients.
