ABOUT ME:
It is my desire to give help and hope to people who suffer as a result of childhood trauma. I want them to know that there are therapists like me who know and understand firsthand the difficulties of living with PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I want them to know that there are people who can help them manage more successfully with the aftereffects of childhood trauma.
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: I tend to be a very active therapist, meaning that I interact with the client. I ask questions, makes comments, make observations, and offer insights. However, I feel that the ultimate responsibility for progress necessarily resides with the client. I encourage my clients to make their whole life part of their therapy and not just their time in my office. To this end I urge them to keep a "Therapy Notebook", a journal in which they write down everything and anything that relates to their therapeutic work. I encourage them to bring this notebook with them to their sessions in order to both read from it and write in it as they see fit.

PAYMENTS:
My standard fee for a 50-minute session is $120. Longer or shorter sessions are charged proportionately. My standard fee for group therapy is $60 per session and sessions run about 2 hours. Client who are not on insurance and pay in full each time receive a 10% discount.

CANCELLATIONS:
· Cancellation (with more than 48 hours notice) 20% of what the fee would have been for a kept appointment.
· Late cancellation (with less than 48 hours notice) 40% of what the fee would have been for a kept appointment.
· Failed appointment (no shows) 60% of what the fee would have been for a kept appointment.
· Make-up appointments. The cancellation, late cancellation, and failed appointment fees may be reduced by one half
if you reschedule the missed appointment within the same time frame.

CREDENTIALS:
He received his Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University in 1969. Since that time he has worked in a wide variety of settings including, early in his career, a family service agency with a broad-spectrum caseload, giving him some of his initial experiences in working with children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, and with individuals, couples, groups, and families. The bulk of his career has been spent in doing therapy with adolescents, adults, couples and groups. He also worked from 1979 to 1988 in medical social work in hospitals and home health agencies doing hospice counseling and care management. He has been in full time private practice since 1988. He has taken an appalling number of continuing education courses in a wide variety of subjects.
