Clinical Psychologist

ABOUT ME:
I completed my degree requirements for my doctorate in clinical psychology from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 1993, and graduated summa cum laude in 1994. The degree I earned, a Psy.D. (pronounced "sigh-DEE"), means "Doctor of Psychology." In addition to extensive coursework, completion of this degree required several years' clinical experience as a pre-doctoral student under the supervision of licensed psychologists, beginning in the late 1980s. Then I completed a predoctoral year of full-time internship, followed by more than a year of postdoctoral supervised experience following graduation. Over the course of my career I have provided multiple services across multiple settings, including but not limited to: outpatient private practice, inpatient psychiatric hospital services, consultation within general hospitals, consultation to a mental health center and multiple social service agencies, assessment within a diagnostic and evaluation center, nursing home therapy and consultation, and
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: " Every person who steps through my door is a unique individual. My goal is to provide a highly individualized, personally tailored approach to therapy designed to produce a safe context in which positive change can occur. After nearly twenty years of training and post-licensure experience, I still feel privileged to work with the individuals, couples, and families who seek my services. Stress management, relationship conflicts, depression, anxiety, and trauma are just some of the problems addressed in my practice. Although many of the tools I use are based in the cognitive-behavioral approach, I pull my therapeutic resources from multiple modalities dependent upon the client's needs.

HEALTH PLAN PARTICIPATION:
My decision to decline insurance payment was difficult, but I strongly feel it safeguards client privacy and decision-making power. A sliding scale and flexible payment options make therapy accessible in a client-centered environment. For those still wishing to file their insurance, appropriate information can be provided them. "

PAYMENTS:
Payment is expected at the time of service unless prior alternative arrangements have been made.
|
CANCELLATIONS:
Not only is appointment time lost in the event of a missed appointment, but therapist time preparing for the session is also wasted. Therefore 24 hours' cancellation notice is needed.
