ABOUT ME:
I want therapy to be a place where you can feel free to talk openly, where you can feel listened to and understood. I'd like to hear about your goals and strengths, as well as any areas of difficulty. Sometimes it's useful to examine past hurts and losses; often it's even more helpful to look at what can improve the situation now. While I may offer techniques to try or new ideas to consider, I believe it's important for you to be in charge of your own life and make your own choices.
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: I will work with you actively, asking questions, offering suggestions, and creating effective solutions together. We can also explore ways to work towards your goals between sessions. For example, I can recommend self-help books to read or support groups to join, you could keep a journal or record of your progress, or you could practice techniques we've discussed in sessions.
In terms of how long therapy will last, I find that some people can achieve their goals in just a few sessions, while others require longer. I believe that the best way to figure out what's best for you is for us to talk regularly about how you feel about your progress and how well therapy is meeting your needs.

CREDENTIALS:
I have been a Massachusetts licensed psychologist since 1989, and I had five years of prior supervised experience. I earned a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in clinical psychology from Boston University, as well as a Master's degree (M.A.) in psychology from New York University. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, Anxiety Disorders Association of America, and the Employee Assistance Professionals Association.
