ABOUT ME:
My education began at Austin College where I received a B.A. in Psychology. My Masters degree is in Educational Psychology from Texas Tech University. I received my Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Wyoming. I have worked in the field since 1982. My work has been with children, adolescents, and their families in outpatient, day, residential, and inpatient treatment. I have training in assessment, family systems, school issues, mental health, and alcohol/substance abuse issues. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (1768) and a Senior Level Addictions Counselor (3043).
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: Treatment starts after an initial consultation to identify concerns, talk about treatment methods, and develop an individualized treatment plan. The methods, techniques, theory, frequency of sessions, who will be involved in the process is addressed with your input. Review of previous treatment records, and consultation with your current primary care physician ensures that your issues are being fully addressed. Psychological assessment, when needed, is used to assist in making an accurate diagnosis so that treatment is focused.
