I draw on my education, training, and life experience to assist my clients with their challenges. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
I have been working in the mental health field for 11 years, and as a psychotherapist for 7. I have worked with college students, children of various ages, adults and seniors in a number of settings, including psychiatric hospitals, community agencies, schools, domestic violence shelters and group practice. I speak English, Portuguese and Spanish.
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: People tend to seek professional help when their capacity to cope is overwhelmed or they are feeling stuck; when their attempt at handling things is becoming more of a problem than a solution; when they have tried everything but the mental pain and behavior problems persist.
My therapy sessions are pretty collaborative: I will be listening attentivelly, asking questions and making comments about what you have said. I am caring and empathetic: I try to put myself in your shoes. It is important to me that you feel comfortable so you can share you doubts, troubles and challenges.
