ABOUT ME:
I love my work. I have been in practice for over fifteen years and have a unique and varied background. I have worked with nearly all age groups, so I have lots of experience with children and families, but really enjoy the challenge of working with adolescents and adults. I have experience in a number of areas across the broad spectrum of emotional and behavioral difficulities. I am an integrative therapist, meaning I utilize parts or whole aspects of separate schools of psychotherapy in my work. This allows me to find a fit that works best for you. Some problems call for certain types of approaches, but often there are other aspects of the life difficulty you may be experiencing that is best addressed using another form of treatment. STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: I am attentive, actively listen, and pay attention to body language and other cues. I look at my work as a therapist as "entering the stream" and will often use humor, paradox, zen teachings, and confrontive approaches as necessary to help you take a look at your thoughts, beliefs, and feelings and how they affect your behavior and life problems. I also use aspects of Eastern religion, newer cognitive approaches, and mindfulness in my work. My goal is to help you examine your life and to be aware, conscious and mindful of those things that motivate you and which may allow you live a more examined and fuller life.
