  ABOUT ME:
I have been a mental health practitioner in Ontario, Oregon, serving a large area of Eastern Oregon and Southwestern Idaho since 2003. Prior to that I worked at the Warm Springs Counesling Center in Boise, Idaho, for one year of Predoctoral Internship.I have had a variety of work experiences in the mental health field with a number of different kinds of clients. So, even though I have areas I consider to be my areas of greater expertise, I am truly a generalist practitioner, which is what is needed in the rural areas I serve. I strive to customize the evaluation and/or therapeutic treatment plan to meet the needs of each individual client. I have chosen to work in Ontario/Payette/Fruitland and the surrounding area because I prefer the small town life, having grown up in a similar sized town in North Dakota.
It may be helpful for some to know that the other practitioner who works with me, Dr. Mowry, and I are the only full-time, doctoral level clinicians in the area. My training allows me to do Psychologi

STYLE IN THE THERAPY SESSION: I use an eclectic therapy style, meaning I use parts from various theories as they seem appropriate for use with a particular client. I tend to fall back on Cognitive-Behavioral and Systemic theories the most. I like to use a Solution-Focused approach as well. While I do not ignore the past, the primary emphasis of therapy is coming up with strategies to allow the client to function better in the present and future. Each client moves at his/her own pace and the duration of therapy varies according to the presenting problem and client characteristics. My office was formerly a house, so there is a comfortable feel about it and clients generally find it a comfortable place to be. There are no big signs outside, so privacy is easily maintainted, in fact, many people in the community do not even realize the building contains doctor's offices.
