ABOUT ME:
My office is centrally located in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego.
My master's degrees are in theology and pastoral care, family systems therapy, and counseling psychology. My Ph.D. is in integral psychology.
Since 1988 I have been a counselor and trainer for Prepare/Enrich relationship assessement instruments. I have had extensive post-graduate training in the treatment and management of depression and over 100 hours of clinical training in hypnosis. I currently divide my work time between a general psychotherapy practice and service to hospice patients, families and caregivers as a bereavement counselor. In 2003 I was awarded the Sally Breuner Haugh Spirit of Caring Award by the Sharp Hospital Foundation for my work with the dying, their families, and caregivers.
I offer special, lower rates for couples interested in premarital counseling.
Finding a good therapist is often an adventure in shopping: I offer a free half-hour consultation for prospective clients.
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: My focus is not on pathology, but on preventive and integrative approaches to mental and relational wellness.
The client's interests and goals for his or her life must guide the therapeutic process.
A caring, solid relationship is among the most important elements in personal growth and healing. The client and therapist must create a safe and energizing space where the client can work to develop new life skills, heal from past traumas and realize personal growth.
