ABOUT ME:
I believe in establishing a solid rapport/counseling relationship; where the counselee and conselor are equals towards tackling the issue. I am an excellent listener who is very easy going and will work as hard as the person I am counseling. I am honest, and straight forward in what I have to say. I have many ways in dealing with several problems, and am quick to zero in on what will be effective.
I am a professor at a college, work for the Department of Human Servies - State of Michigan, and do private practice in my home, or if preferred in the client's own home. I am continually seeking new techniques, methods, and information in counseling treatment. Counseling - helping, people, are my passion. My hobbies are going to seminars, reading professional journals and travel. I love to see other cultures. I love people.
I am married and have a 10 year old son.
STYLE
IN THE THERAPY SESSION: Cognitive Behavioral:
I am straight forward in my approach. I look at the way you think, which effects behavior, and develops into undesired or dysfunctional consequences/outcomes.
I do challenge thought processes and have clients do homework outside of sessions in order to reinforce what the goal is to be achieved.
Brief therapy, 10 sessions or less. Then we take a break and see if the client has succeeded. If not, when the client feels they need to come back for more work, I contiue where we left off.
SERVICES RENDERED:
Individual Therapy, Couples/Marital Therapy, Family Therapy, Group Therapy, Behavior Therapy, Brief Therapy, Christian Psychotherapy, Coaching, Custody Evaluation, Family Therapy, Guided Imagery, Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy, Parent Training, Pastoral Counseling, Personality
