
John Silvestre MS, LCSW; is a cognitive behavioral therapist with a full time private practice in Manhattan and Westchester. He is a dedicated and caring professional specializing in Anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorders. He earned a Licenciateship in Clinical Psychology from Lisbon University and a Masters in Science in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University.
John Silvestre has coauthored articles on the treatment of Anxiety Disorders in professional journals as well as a book chapter entitled: "Behavioral Treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorders." He has been featured in Teen magazine and NBC. John Silvestre has been active in treating patients with OCD and other Anxiety Disorders using cognitive behavioral psychotherapy for the past 16 years both in his private practice and within the context of his past work at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute where he was trained by Dr. Edna Foa's team, author of "Stop Obsessing!" John Silvestre also taught cognitive behavioral psychotherapy for Anxiety Disorders to Mount Sinai Medical Center clinicians. He is currently Instructor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at New York Medical College.
John lives in Irvington on Hudson with his wife of 17 years and his three children (9y.o. Xana; 7 y.o. David; and 4y.o. Josef). His other passions are: running, nature, music and soccer.
