Many of the clients coming in my door are adult survivors of childhood trauma. I am able to hold them, to reframe their current difficulties in life as evolutionarily determined adaptations to their childhood experiences. In other words, they have done an excellent job in learning how to adapt to the environment in which they grew up in, and are now running into difficulties because the world they now live in is different from the one in which they grew up.
