Product Reviews:
Best drug reference for mental disorders
The book helped me understand the medication that is prescribed for my foster children. I am able to talk to the doctor about the meds and I can look up what drug is used for what disorder. Also what the side effects are and what the behaviors to look for while they are on the meds. Great reference if you are working with people who are on medication for mental disorders.
  For Psychiatry Residents and Students
This is a must-have to keep all of the psychiatric drugs straight and learn the essential side effects, indications, distinguishing characteristics, drug-drug interactions, etc. that will be on the mock board/board exams.
concise book but could better for the digital book
The book is useful and easy to read. However, there're some suggestions for the digital book.
(1) It is suggested to add the phonetic transcription of the drugs because I hope to know the pronunciation of each drugs.
(2) It is suggested to add the photos of the drugs.
  unusually useful ( dmcj11 )
I'm a psychiatry resident. I carry this with me everywhere. It's concise, relatively accurate, basic, has all the useful info at my fingertips, quickly. I lost one copy in the ER late at night and felt naked. I quickly bought another.

The book is fairly up to date, listing drugs like Pregabalin and Gabitril; discrediting Topirimate for bipolar treatment, but alluding to it's efficacy in impulsivity and alcohol cravings--all current psychopharm issues.

It's missing beta-blockers and others which I forget. Some meds are well described, other are lacking--Not very consistent. It certainly doesn't go into the drug specifics, but is an excellent pocket reference.
  Worth the money ( remeron101 )
This little book is worth the price I paid for it. It has pertinent information in a condensed but very usable form. I have it with me in the clinic as a reference and it is one of three references that I use on a regular basis. I had been using the 2006 edition and was glad to see the 2008 edition was available. With so much to know and so little time my thanks to the authors.
This is the link to one of the other books that I use on a regular basis:

Essential Psychopharmacology: The Prescriber's Guide: Revised and Updated Edition (Essential Psychopharmacology Series)

It is more expensive but again worth the money.
