Book Description
Play is to the child what verbalization is to the adult-it is a medium for expressing feelings, exploring relationships, describing experiences and disclosing wishes. Revised and updated, this second edition of the award-winning Play Therapy: The Art of the Relationship provides comprehensive and detailed information for creating therapeutic relationships with children and facilitating the play therapy process. Guidelines, transcripts and case examples are provided for governing sensitive issues at every stage of the therapeutic process, from the first meeting to the end of the relationship.

The art of the relationship by Garry Landreth
This text book is one of the best tools to help one learn the skill of play therapy. It is an easy read and not jumbled by words one can not comprehend. It explains in detail the do's and don'ts of how one interacts with a child through play and it defines the importance of play for a child. And it helps parents to build a relationship with their child through the process of play. I recommend this to anyone that is taking the position as parent, counselor, therapist, and teacher.

This is THE Book for aspiring play therapists! ( trevspal )
I was required to read the book for a class I was completing on Play therapy. It was a very easy read, well organized with a good mixture of research and anecdotal information. What makes the book a truly outstanding resource is Dr. Landreth's very candid insight into the practice of play therapy as well as his willingness to share with the reader his very sincere love and respect for children.

Clearly written and well organized, it is easy to read and an invaluable reference. Highly recommended for beginning play therapists
