Product Description
The Art of Being Human introduces readers to the ways in which the humanities can broaden their perspective, enhance their ability to think critically and creatively, and enrich their lives. This highly-respected book has been lauded for its scope of topics, accessibility, and lucid writing style. Chapter topics include myth, literature, art, music, television, cinema, and the theater. Also discussed are provocative issues in the humanities - religion, morality, happiness, death, freedom, and controversies in the arts. The thematic organization of the book allows readers to concentrate on one artistic mode at a time. More than 160 black and white photos and two eight-page full-color photo inserts give readers a visual appreciation of the arts. For those interested in the appreciation of the humanities.

college text ( maryjean73 )
Got this book for my college fine arts class.
Honestly, I absolutly hated it. It is very unorganized, and hard to find things quickly. The index is horrible and incomplete. Also, the color plates in the book are not high qualtiy and they don't tell the sizes of the paintings! The picture in the book could be 5 inches long, but the painting is 20 feet high- I think it is important for it to give the reader that information.
The only reason I am not giving it 1 star is because it really has alot of good information in it- it is just organized horribly.

Great for the Human mind & General Humanities ( ibanez_fan1 )
This book is used at West Ottawa High school for a Humanities class. I have found it very interesting and keeps you reading until you can't read no more. It isn't to hard of reading and gives your information with examples quickly and efficantly.
