Product Description
The fully revised and updated edition to the national bestseller Get Healthy Now! includes five entirely new sections: Diabetes, Insomnia, Andropause and Menopause, Skin and Hair, and Pain and Fatigue. Over 1,200 pages long, featuring over twenty new chapters and an up-to-the-minute national resource guide of alternative health practitioners, this comprehensive guide to healthy living offers a wide range of alternative approaches to help you stay healthy. Drawing from methods that have been supported by thousands of years of use in other societies, as well as recent discoveries in modern medicine, Dr. Gary Null provides better alternatives to drugs, surgical intervention, and other standard Western techniques.

not what I expected ( sultanofsuede )
Gary Null is kind of an enigmatic figure. I agree that nutrition and health are unknown to most doctors and that professionalism more generally is a threat to human happiness. There's some other stuff that goes with his holistic views however.
The material here is very different from what Null shares with his radio audience. Several of the protocols and diets countenance eating meat in some form. Anyone who knows Null knows that this is antithetical to what he says on PBS and his radio shows. The author draws so heavily from other sources that his own nutritional views are lost.
The book is large and topical. Worried about cancer? There's a chapter on prevention. The other chapters cover things from lupus to sexual dysfunction. The recipes included are pretty sparse but good. This is the pattern more generally; information is sparse and wide ranging, but there's seldom enough to hold interest. As a compendium of recent empirical research, it's okay, but many people would probably benefit by a more targeted book on a single theme such as juicing. Like Null himself, I suggest checking it out at the library before buying.
Null's more controversial views on AIDs and religion are not present in this work. This is good because his brand of Baby Boomer, sub-Marxist, backwoods sublimated fundamentalist fervor gets tiresome sometimes. Null has actually transformed his childhood religion and rural milieu into a weird New Age religion centered on energy transfer and democracy. Despite the flaws, Null is an important populist voice in challenging the status quo.

Irresponsible and Dangerous! Don't waste your money! ( deasis )
If you've ever heard Gary Null on the radio, you would know he promotes what I consider to be dangerous and irresponsible beliefs regarding AIDS, psychiatric meds, mercury fillings, etc. which can be misleading to the uninformed. Don't waste your money!

Inspiring and great advice that is easy to use.
I love Dr. Gary Null's books and documentary films. I have been a fan of his for years. He is honest and genuine in helping others create and maintain health. This book is another masterpiece of wisdom for the individual that wants to know the truth about health and well-being. And if you are not familiar with or have not seen his documentary films yet, you are in for a treat... his truth shines through.

Excellent resource ( 33angel )
This is one of the best natural health books I have come across! Not only does it have pages and pages of information, by condition: skin, menstruation, mental health issues etc, but it discusses how to these conditions develop, and what we can do once we develop them. The book is especially valuable because it contains an index of natural health practitioners by practice and by state in the end of the book. Many chapters outline the mainstream as well as the alternative points of view so that the reader can make the best informed choice possible. This is an excellent reference for any family library.

Get 'Get Healthy Now!' now
I really enjoy Get Healthy Now! by Dr. Gary Null. Like most of Dr. Null's book, Get Healthy Now! offers clear and assessable information to layman and professional alike. The information on various alternative remedies and natural treatment is organized in a very helpful and thoughtful way to allow you to understand the issues succinctly. The book also serves to encourage the readers to help themselves, which I think is one of Gary's strongest attribute. Let's face it; Information without motivation rarely works in the long term. Get Healthy Now! was written not to be overly complex, but in a direct manner that make knowledge understandable. Get Healthy Now! is another winner by Dr. Null.
