Product Description
This book is a must for the parents of unusually bright and active children. Indigo children are those who display a new and unusual set of psychological attributes and show a pattern of behaviour generally undocumented before. The Indigo Children tells you how to identify this behavioural pattern, then guides you on how you can help these children to realise their amazing potential.
Amazon.com Review
Do you think your child is special? Well, perhaps he or she is! Self-help professionals Lee Carroll and Jan Tober have collected essays by dozens of doctors, counselors, and other childhood experts that seem to document the arrival on earth of a newly evolved species of human kiddie referred to here as an "indigo" child. The 10 most common traits are: 1.) They come into the world with a feeling of royalty. 2.) They have a feeling of deserving to be here. 3.) Self-worth is not a big issue. 4.) They have difficulty with authority by ritual or without explanation. 5.) They simply will not do certain things. 6.) They get frustrated with systems that don't require creative thought. 7.) They often see better ways of doing things. 8.) School is often difficult for them and they can seem antisocial. 9.) They will not respond to guilt-trip discipline. 10.) They are not shy about letting you know what they need.

If your little angel/devil fits this pattern and you are pulling your hair out trying to relate, you may want to read this book before resorting to Ritalin. --P. Randall Cohan

  High hopes, didn't deliver
Reading the description of the book prior to ordering it I was intrigued by the concept of the indigo child. Once I got the book and began reading, the evidence supporting the theory was just terrible. This book is full of really vague examples of these supposedly special indigo child, most sound like any parent talking about how insightful their child is. In one such example Carol and Tober talk about Todd, a 4 year old supposed indigo who doesn't like a doll at his grandmother's house so he breaks it. They sit him down and talk with him why that was wrong and ask what he thinks should be his punishment. Todd says he thinks a time out would be a fair punishment. Then the analysis of the example is, "What we see here is the indigo humanist (who loves people and freedom) choose a time-out for isolation, even at this young age. This self imposed confinement was, to Todd, a fair exchange for his inappropriate behavior"(pg 19-20). There is absolutely nothing unusual about this or any of the other examples in the book that would suggest that the child is somehow special.

A huge hole in the theory of the indigo child is this; they state that over 90% of children being born now are thought to be indigos. Then they argue for the rest of the book that indigos are special and stand out at school for various reasons. If 90% of kids are indigos, then none would stand out, they would be normal compared to the other children. I feel like they're try to describe a normal, or possibly ADD, child as being something really special and putting it in a New Age framework. This would be an interesting idea if there was only a tiny bit of actual evidence to back it up. If you're looking for a book making an extraordinary claim, and then having no real evidence or even anecdotes that point towards their point... this is the book for you. If I had to do it again I'd keep my $3.
An obligated referential text! ( higopa )
In honour to the truth, the basic merit of this book, consisted on having brought to the public arena, a well though adjective, that permeated the long expected of so many parents along four decades.

With meridian clarity, the authors expose and describe pedagogically the basic facets of every case in question, how to realize ourselves about the deficit of attention, the hyper-kinetic children how to face and deal with it, and invaluable advises to achieve they got to develop without prejudices or any sort of social comments through a well reasoned system of recommendations.

Since its first release at the late eighties, this book is still a reference text, for parents, teachers and all kind of public in general, because sooner or later, you will involve direct or indirectly with these indigo children.

A must read!

  ENLIGHTENING
I've heard about the Indigo children for a number of years now. After reading some of the Kryon material and Mr. Carroll's information on the Indigo's, I finally decided to order them. I should have done it long ago. I work with "different" children and this has answered many questions. I was addionally blessed when Amazon sent me an email saying, "People who have read the Indigo Children have also read "Forerunners Of The New Civilization, Indigo Adults", by Kabir Jaffe and Ritama Davidson.
I knew I had to have it, and it has been like reading my life. Many times I wept as I read confirmation after confirmation about myself. I am 69 years young and am excited about the changes that are taking place. Things may not look so good on the surface, but "Where sin abounds, Grace much more abounds". I look forward to participating in the rebuilding of the New Age. Ron
  Indigo Children ~ Super Sensitive Kids ( jed6jezzy )
I'd like to refer anyone reading this comment to the reader who posted this review: The Quintessential Resource On Indigos, April 23, 2005...scroll back and take a look. They said everything perfectly! Why be redundant?

I would like to clear up, though, the misconception that seems to be floating out there that these kids don't need boundaries, guidance. That's totally untrue. They DO. Moreso than the other children. These children need these things to grow up to be respectful adults. If not, they WILL grow up thinking it's a free for all. Yes, they are different..yes, they require tons more patience, but they are sooo worth it!

I hate labels. Of any kind. ADD, ADHD...even Indigo, Crystal, Rainbow, etc. Personally, I feel these children should be called "Super Sensitive Kids". By that, I'm talking about their inner energy and needing to channel it properly; anyway, that is for another topic:~) Please read the book with an open mind.

A wealth of knowledge-extremely helpful when communicating with indigo children. A ray of light on such a difficult topic.
