Product Description
Created by psychologists, this common-sense guide offers a fresh approach to teaching children who struggle in school. Featuring almost 50 intervention handouts that really help children learn, the book is ideal for teachers to use in the classroom and parents to use at home. School psychologists can use the short questionnaire based on Naglieri Das's Cognitive Assessment System to help assess student strengths and needs and select interventions. Teachers and parents use the photocopiable handouts to help students build a foundation for academic success by improving attention, self-control, thinking skills, listening, and more improve specific skills in academic areas such as reading, writing, spelling, and math progress in four cognitive areas with strategies that address common classroom problems related to each area These easy-to-use handouts were developed around the four cognitive areas in Naglieri's PASS: Planning, Attention, Simultaneous, and Successive. Each handout - ideal for use with an entire class, small groups, or individual students - clearly describes the skill involved, indicates which children should use the intervention, and suggests strategies you can implement right away. And because the handouts were developed around a well-respected cognitive processing theory, school psychologists, teachers, and parents can be sure they're getting proven, reliable approaches to solving students' academic challenges at school and at home.

Product Reviews:
  Helping Children Learn Review
I was seeking a resource that could support my work in guiding teachers to work with children with cognitive processing difficulties. This book has practical handouts which are useful, easy to read, and can be adapted for specific children. I particularly like the Index of handouts which allows me to target the area of difficulty.

Helping Children Learn: Intervention Handouts for Use in School and Home
A very practical useable book. It is well structured and easy to access information from. It is a handy desk reference for some common and not so common conditions.
A great resource for those using the PASS theory
This is a great collection of neuropsychoeducational handouts for those using the PASS theory, or using cognitive strategies for helping children how to use the underlying cognitive processes of learning. A must for school, educational, cognitive psychologists and pediatric neuropsychologists. If you are looking forward to use this practical strategies and you are not familiarized with PASS theory or Luria's works, please review them first. Thanks, J.P.Das, J. Naglieri and Pickering for theses materials.
