 Helps you pass while reducing overall study time
This book will help you pass the NCE, it contains all of the information on the test but is quite brief and to the point. By using this study guide you will be able to pass with out hours of wasted time studying specific material that is not on the test. I only studied for 2 weeks and passed with a very high score.

good info on the test itself, good basic review of topics but not enough detail at times to really be helpful, not well written. Good place to start studying for the exam but won't be sufficient on its own.

I read this book to study for my comps, and I found it to be too general of information. I needed more specifics on theories of Career Development and Human Development. Then the practice test was soo hard compared to the information given in the readings. In my degree program, we covered a lot more in depth info than what was provided here.

NCE Study Guide ( tsiega )
I found the Helwig manual very helpful. Its explanations and examples are more clear and to the point than the Encyclopedia of Counseling. The Encyclopedia was more like the IDIOTS GUIDE TO..which I find irritating because of all the cutesy filler talk. I like the Manual's detailed step by step examples to illustrate key terms.
