A Fine Reference Work ( garandu )
Dr. Nunn's marvelous retrospective picks up where Guido Majno's seminal "The Healing Hand: Man and Wound in the Ancient World" leaves off with regard to ancient Egyptian medicine. The book is well referenced and easy to understand, and illustrated with 90 photographs and line drawings in addition to transliteration tables of hieroglyphic terms (which leads one to wonder if comments on a lack of "pictures" were made by someone who actually bothered to read the book). Highly recommended to the student of ancient medicine, the specialist of ancient occult and herbal practices related to healing, or those who study ancient Egypt.

Ancient Egyptian Medicine ( atheenwilson@yahoo.com )
I found the first two chapters somewhat dull and almost didn't finish the book at all. Once into chapter three, however, I found it quite readable and very informative. Still, I suspect the volume will appeal most to those with at least some background in health care, as it's written by a retired MD.

Excellent "how-to" book
When I got this book, I needed a manual that described the effects of embalming techniques. This book is loaded with diagrams to guide the physician along the way. Please don't miss the chapter on the holistic benefits of psycho-pyramidology.

very informative, but- wheres the pictures?
This book was a really intellegently written and informative book. Wonderful issues, and sides of ancient egyptian medicine explored in great detail. I was very pleased, except I had 1 complaint. -Very little pictures Otherwise a very detailed and well written book.

Scholarly, yet easy to read and enjoy.
As a physician and Egyptian ,I have long history of interest in ancient Egyptian medicine. Most books on the subject are either incomplete or confusing. DR Nunn`s book fills a void long felt by students of the subject.
