Dee Fink poses a fundamental question for all teachers: "How can I create courses that will provide significant learning experiences for my students?" In the process of addressing this question, he urges teachers to shift from a content-centered approach to a learning-centered approach that asks "What kinds of learning will be significant for students, and how can I create a course that will result in that kind of learning?" Fink provides several conceptual and procedural tools that will be invaluable for all teachers when designing instruction. Creating Significant Learning Experiences is a valuable tool, both for those new to teaching at the university level, and for those who have already taught at the university level. The book is well-written, and provides many practical suggestions for a more in-depth learning experience. It has helped me to improve my teaching personally, and I highly recommend it.

This is a wonderfully comprehensive look at research in the field of course design and instruction. I work with faculty and the research that this book provides for the work that we do is crucial. I am able to cite research and underscore the importance of what I have been teaching then all along.
The title of this book makes it seem less important than it really is. This book is about research.

This is an assigned text in a course I am taking. It seems like a good choice so far, but I've only read one chapter. The book arrived in good shape. The packaging was very good-no bent book covers.
