Product Description
The Process of Investigation, Third Edition, is a book written to address the needs of the private investigator in the security field. Continuing in the tradition of its previous editions, this book covers essential topics which are often overlooked in works that concentrate on the public aspects of investigation. Investigative skills such as surveillance techniques, interviewing and interrogation, evidence, and confessions and written statements are all discussed, and supplemented with updated case studies and examples from the authors' own experiences.
Major revisions to The Process of Investigation include mention and coverage of the effects of 9/11 on the security industry, the need to incorporate awareness of terrorism and terrorist activities when investigating any suspicious behavior, and two completely new chapters. Chapter 10 discusses interviewing and interrogations, and is written by Doug Wicklander and Dave Zulawski, premier experts in the field. Chapter 23 addresses the issues of workplace violence, and includes coverage of stalking, domestic violence spillover into workplaces, red flags, and the Theory of Threat Assessment and Management (TAM), among other topics. Additionally, other more minor modifications in legislation that have been passed and implemented since the last edition are addressed throughout the book.
- Serves as a valuable reference tool for both the student and the professional - Recommended reading for both the ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) certification exams - Includes two brand new chapters about interviewing, interrogations, and the Theory of Threat Assessment and Management

An excellent reference for both the new and the experienced investigator. ( michael_chesbro )
"The Process of Investigation" is an excellent reference for both the new and the experienced investigator. The book is filled with useful information, case examples and formats that can be directly applied to your own investigative work.
"The Process of Investigation: is divided into five major sections:
1. Fundamentals of Security Investigation
2. Methods of Security Investigation
3. Building a Case
4. Applying Investigative Strategies
5. Technological and Specialized Investigative Techniques
Although I have been involved in security and investigations for many years, I still found "The Process of Investigation" to be a very useful reference, and one which I now use when teaching investigation classes.
Highly Recommended!

A Very Thorough Introduction to the Investigation Process
This book is an excellent resource for someone who either has some familiarity in the field of Private Investigations, or for someone who is entering the field and needs to become more familiar with terminology and techniques. The book focuses an entire section on the "Who What When Where Why and How's" for investigations, which I found to be very informative. The information is accurate and is of such high quality that this book is used as recommended reference material for some State Written Examinations for Private Detective Licenses. That should say it all.

In depth and inclusive
I really enjoyed this book. I have been investigating crimes in the public sector for almost a decade. This book gave me some new ideas and is a great resource for those transitioning to the private sector or just getting into it. I found this book to be very informative and would recommend it to anyone that is going into the field or is already in the field of private investigations.
